Researching 16 commerce solutions, Forrester provides an overview of each company’s size, type of offering, geography, and use case differentiation. Similarly, for B2B companies, Forrester released Commerce Solutions For B2B Landscape, Q4 2023.

In the questionnaire for the B2C overview, Kibo selected its top three extended use cases that it focuses on as:
- Store associates sell in-store via digital device
- Unify functions that optimize path to purchase
- Order entry outside of typical online shopping channel
In the questionnaire for the B2B overview, Kibo selected its top three extended use cases that it focuses on as:
- Selling outcomes-as-a-service
- Providing franchise web stores
- Selling aftermarket parts
According to the B2C overview, “As the market moves en masse toward software-as-a-service (SaaS) commerce tech, commerce solutions serve as a lighter, more flexible piece of the architecture than they did when legacy systems prevailed.”
One of the main trends in the market, according to the B2C overview, is that digital business leaders are seeking commerce solutions that provide a balance between modularity and manageability. “Modularity enables flexibility, including adding just the necessary functions to suit their need of the moment. Keeping ecosystems manageable means unifying functions and interfaces where possible while also limiting customization (in both the tech and its connective tissue) to stand up projects faster and stay nimble,” the B2C overview stated.
As Forrester noted in the B2C overview, the commerce platform is often the “nucleus” of digital selling, with solutions like order management, customer service, and content management systems orbiting around it to drive frontend experiences and backend operations.
