KIBO Academy has a new home — and a whole new library of training to go with it. Whether you’re a longtime KIBO user or just getting started on the platform, here’s everything you need to know about the relaunch, what’s new, how to get started, and how certification works.
What Is KIBO Academy?
KIBO Academy is KIBO’s official training platform for clients and partners, offering product education across every part of the KIBO Commerce and Order Management platform. It’s where business users learn to configure and operate KIBO day to day, and where developers get hands-on with the technical side of the platform. It’s completely free to use, and open to KIBO clients and Verified Partners alike.
With this relaunch, KIBO Academy has moved to a new platform — and just as importantly, the training content itself has been rebuilt from the ground up to reflect where KIBO is today.
What’s New
This isn’t a cosmetic refresh. The entire course library has been rewritten, reorganized, and expanded to match current KIBO functionality, with room to keep growing as new features ship. A few highlights:
- 50% more courses, with new content being added every month.
- New learning formats. Every course now pairs instructional videos with a hands-on activity to reinforce what you’ve learned, plus quizzes and exams to earn certification. Courses also link directly out to relevant product documentation, so you can go deeper whenever you need to.
- 30 brand-new courses covering functionality that’s never had dedicated training before — including vector-powered search, B2B account hierarchies and order release, safety stock and return rules, reverse logistics strategies, fulfillment SLAs, and full Estimated Delivery Date configuration. There’s also an entirely new Dropship track, walking through the full vendor lifecycle from onboarding through order fulfillment.
- Placement Tests, a fast path to certification for anyone who already knows the material (more on that below).
How to Get Started
If you’ve used KIBO Academy in the past few years, good news — your account has already been created for you on the new platform. Just be on the lookout for a confirmation email to activate your account and finish setting up your profile.
If you’re new to KIBO Academy, getting started takes just a couple of minutes:
- Visit kiboacademy.learnupon.com
- Click Register Now in the top right
- Confirm your account through the email you’ll receive
- Select your User Type — either Business User or Technical/Developer User — so your course catalog and certification path are tailored to you
That’s it — from there, you’ll land in a catalog organized by topic, ready to start whichever learning journey fits what you’re working on.
If you’re one of the existing users transitioning over from the previous platform, you’ll have until October 31st, 2026 where both the old and new KIBO Academy are available, giving you time to wrap up anything in progress.
Platform Certifications, Explained
KIBO Academy certification is built to be flexible — you can go deep on just the areas relevant to your role, or work toward full platform certification.
For Business Users, KIBO Academy currently offers 13 topic-specific Learning Journeys — covering areas like Settings, Reporting, Catalog, Search, Marketing, Customers, Order Management, Locations, Inventory, Order Routing, Fulfiller, and Dropship. Each Learning Journey has its own standalone certification. So if you only need to be certified on, say, Catalog and Inventory, you can complete just those two journeys and be certified in both — no need to touch anything outside what’s relevant to your role.
Complete all 13 Business User Learning Journeys, and you’ll also earn the overarching KIBO Platform Business User certification, showing you’re certified across the entire platform.
For Developers, certification is a single, standalone track: complete Getting Started with KIBO Developer Training, and you’re certified as a KIBO Platform Developer.
Already familiar with a topic? You don’t have to sit through the full course to prove it. Every Learning Journey has a corresponding Placement Test you can take instead — find them in the KIBO Academy catalog by filtering for topic area or searching “Placement Test.” Score 80% or higher, and your certificate is issued instantly. If you don’t hit that mark, no penalty beyond needing to complete the standard Learning Journey and final exam like everyone else — you get one shot at the shortcut, but the regular path is always there as a backup.
However you approach it, certificates are issued automatically the moment every required course in a track is marked complete — no extra steps, no waiting on approval.
